Parking lots, fees, and how to reach the castle

The fairytale destination in Bavaria is a must-see, but before you immerse yourself in its magical beauty, it’s important to know where to park.
Since the castle itself is located high on a hill, direct parking at the castle entrance is not possible.
There are several convenient parking options nearby, and we’re here to guide you through them.
Whether you prefer to walk, take a shuttle, or enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride, we’ve got all the information you need to ensure a smooth arrival.
Let’s explore your parking options, fees, and how to get to the castle from there!
The Neuschwanstein entry ticket is the cheapest way to see the castle, which attracts a million visitors annually. The full-day trip from Munich includes castle entry and transport, while the Neuschwanstein & Linderhof tour offers a guided experience of both fairytale castles.
Parking Lots in Hohenschwangau
There are four main public parking lots near the village of Hohenschwangau.
Each lot has its own features, and depending on your preference, you’ll find the one that suits you best.

Parking is available for cars, buses, motorbikes, and even campers.
P1 – The Largest and Closest

This lot also offers designated parking spaces for visitors with reduced mobility, providing a convenient and accessible option for those who need it.
P3 – A Smaller Lot for Cars and Motorbikes
P3 is another car park for cars and motorbikes.
While it’s not as large as P1, it’s still quite close to the castle and a good option if P1 is full.
P4 – A Bit Further but Offers a Shuttle Service
P4 is located near the Alpsee lake, a bit farther from the castle, but it’s a great option if you’re planning to take the shuttle bus up to the castle.
The shuttle bus will take you near Mary’s Bridge (Marienbrücke), and then you’ll need to walk a short distance to the castle.
